Early Life and Education
Azerbaijan's youngest and most promising judokas, Orkhan Safarov, began his journey in the sport at an early age. Born and raised in Zaqatala, Safarov attended the Children's and Youth Sports School before moving to Baku in 2004. He joined the professional sports club "Inter" and later moved to "Attila" under the sports society "Neftchi."
Athletic Achievements
World CupsSafarov has demonstrated exceptional talent in international competitions, securing five gold medals and one silver medal at the World Judo Cup for Juniors in Antalya, Turkey.
National Championships
In Azerbaijan, Safarov has consistently ranked among the best. He boasts a silver medal at the 2005 National Youth Judo Championship, a gold medal in 2006, a bronze medal in 2007, and a silver medal in the same year at the National Transitioning Youth Judo Championship. He went on to win the National Youth Judo Championship in 2008 and took silver at the National Youth Judo Championship in 2009 and 2010. In 2013, he triumphed at the National Judo Championship for Athletes Under 23. Safarov's success continued at the senior level, where he earned a silver medal at the National Judo Championship in 2014.
International Tournaments
Safarov has also left his mark on international tournaments. He has won the Derbent International Junior Judo Tournament twice, in 2006 and 2007. He claimed gold and silver medals at the General Aziz Aslanov International Junior Judo Tournament in Baku in 2007 and 2008, respectively. In addition, he won silver at the Istanbul International Junior Judo Tournament in 2008 and bronze at the Beskidy International Youth Judo Tournament in Poland in 2008.
