Early Life and Career

Soviet Footballer

Akmyrat Koçumow was a Soviet and Turkmen footballer who began his career in 1988 with Koпетдаг. He then played for Ahal from 1989 to 1991.

Independent Turkmenistan Era

Goal-Scoring Record

In the first round of the newly independent Turkmen Championship in 1992, Koçumow scored an impressive 5 goals for "Sport" against "Büzmeyin". Throughout the 20 rounds, he added another 22 goals.

Continued Success

Koçumow played for "Büzmeyin" in 1993, scoring 12 goals in the first stage and 2 goals in the first 6 games of the second stage. Between 1994 and 1999, he played for several teams, including Turan (Dashoguz), Ekskavatorçy, Merv, and Koпетдаг.

Coaching Career

Early Success

Koçumow began his coaching career with Ahal in late 1999. In 2000, he led the МВД Turkmenistan team, "Galkan", to promotion to the top-flight.

Youth Development

From 2001 onward, Koçumow served as the Head Coach of the Football Division of the Turkmenistan Olympic Reserve School and as the Head Coach of the country's youth team.

International Recognition

Under Koçumow's leadership, the Turkmenistan youth team performed exceptionally well at the International Sports Youth Games of the CIS and Baltic States in Moscow in 2002, securing a place among the top eight teams. For this achievement, he was awarded the title of "Honored Coach of Turkmenistan."

National Team Involvement

Interim Coach

Koçumow briefly served as the interim head coach of the Turkmenistan national team in 2005, leading them to a single match that resulted in a 0:5 loss to Bahrain.
