Early Life and Modeling Career
Born as Margaret Heintzen on May 16, 1915 (some sources claim 1918 or 1920) in Boston, Massachusetts, Patricia Knight displayed a passion for the arts from an early age. At 14, she embarked on a modeling career and moved to New York City.
Theatrical Debut and Marriage to Cornel Wilde
Knight's artistic talents soon led her to the Capital Theater, where she performed in dance numbers and plays such as "No War in Troy" and "Here Come the Clowns." In 1936, she met actor Cornel Wilde, whom she married; their daughter Wendy arrived in 1943.
Hollywood Breakthrough and Marital Troubles
Knight's husband's rising star in the mid-1940s opened doors for her in Hollywood. She made her film debut in the 1947 drama "Forever Amber" alongside Wilde. Despite her initial success in roles such as "The Fabulous Texan" and "Roses Are Red," critical reviews questioned her acting abilities and unconventional beauty.
Divorce and Subsequent Marriages
By the late 1940s, Knight's marriage to Wilde was strained by his controlling nature and jealousy. They divorced in 1951, and Knight later married Danish businessman Niels Larson in 1954, relocating to Europe. Her acting career came to a halt, although she briefly appeared in the TV series "The Lone Wolf" in the mid-1950s.
Post-Acting Life and Legacy
Knight became a widow in 1971 and subsequently married for a third time, to David Wright, who passed away in 1996. Patricia Knight passed away on October 26, 2004, at the age of 89. Throughout her life, she portrayed a complex and unconventional beauty, both on screen and off.
