Devedjian was born in Fontenay-aux-Roses, France, to Armenian parents. As a student at Université Paris II, he became involved in right-wing politics, joining the Groupe d'Union et de Défense des Étudiants Français (GUDEF).
Foundation of RPR and Electoral Success
In 1976, Devedjian played a leading role in founding the Rassemblement pour la République (RPR). Subsequently, he was elected mayor of Antony, Hauts-de-Seine, in 1983, a position he held for four terms. In 1986, he was elected to the French National Assembly, where he served until 2002.
