Paul Aguilar: A Stalwart Defender
Born in Chihuahua, Mexico, Paul Aguilar began his sporting journey with a passion for baseball. However, at the age of 12, he discovered his true calling in soccer.
Early Career at Pachuca
At 16, Aguilar joined the youth academy of C.F. Pachuca. His exceptional talent soon caught the attention of the club's first team, and in 2005, he signed his first professional contract. He made his senior debut on August 6, 2006, against Cruz Azul.
Aguilar quickly established himself as a key defender for Pachuca. He was instrumental in the team's triumph in the 2007 Clausura, and he also played a vital role in their three consecutive South American Cup victories from 2007 to 2009.
Transfer to América
In 2011, Aguilar made the move to Club América. He continued to showcase his defensive prowess, helping the team secure the 2013 Clausura title.
International Career
Aguilar made his debut for the Mexican national team on September 30, 2009, against Colombia. He scored his first international goal in the same match.
He was included in Mexico's squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, where he played in the opening game. Aguilar also represented his country at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, featuring in all four of their matches.
