Paul Begala: Political Strategist and Commentator

Paul Begala is a renowned American political consultant and commentator. He gained prominence as a political consultant alongside James Carville as part of the "Carville and Begala" team. Begala has also hosted political television shows and is a professor at Georgetown University.

Early Life and Education

Begala was born on May 12, 1961, in New Jersey and raised in a small town in Texas. He graduated from John Foster Dulles High School in Stafford, Texas, and subsequently earned a degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he also ran for student body president and supported Bill Clinton's presidential campaign.

Political Career

Begala's involvement in politics began in partnership with James Carville. Together, they assisted Arkansas Governor Clinton in his successful 1992 presidential bid. After Clinton's election, Begala served as a consultant to the president. He played a key role in maintaining the partnership between Bill Clinton and Al Gore.

Prior to hosting "Crossfire," Begala hosted "Equal Time" with Oliver North on MSNBC. He also served as a columnist for George magazine's political section from September 1995 onward.

Television Host and Professor

From 2002 to June 2005, Begala co-hosted the political debate show "Crossfire" on CNN alongside James Carville. In addition to his television appearances, Begala is a professor of public policy at Georgetown University.
