Paul Wallot was born in Oppenheim, Germany, and initially pursued studies in mechanical engineering in Hanover. He later found his calling in architecture, enrolling at the Royal Architectural Academy in Berlin.

Professional Journey

After graduating, Wallot worked with the renowned architectural firms of Strack, Luthje & Hitzig and Gropius und Schmieden. He embarked on an educational tour of Italy and England, broadening his architectural horizons. In 1869, he established himself as a private architect in Frankfurt am Main.

Architectural Triumph at the Reichstag

In 1882, Wallot triumphed in an architectural competition to design Germany's parliament building, the Reichstag, in Berlin. He partnered with Friedrich von Thiersch on the project, which spanned a decade of construction.
