Early Life and Vocation
Born into a devout Catholic family, Paulina Borowik entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth (Nazarethans) in 1932. She underwent her novitiate in Grodno and professed her perpetual vows, taking the religious name Maria Felicita.
Ministry in Navahrudak
In 1936, at the request of the bishop, Sister Maria Felicita traveled to Navahrudak, Belarus, along with several other nuns. She dedicated herself to serving the local community.
Martyrdom
On August 1, 1943, during mass repressions against civilians in Belarus, Sister Maria Felicita courageously offered herself to the German occupying forces in exchange for the arrested civilians and Catholic priests. She was arrested along with other nuns from her convent in the night between August 31 and September 1.
Early on the morning of September 1, Sister Maria Felicita and her fellow nuns were executed by a firing squad in the woods near Navahrudak.
Beatification
Pope John Paul II beatified Sister Maria Felicita on March 5, 2000, recognizing her heroic sacrifice and unwavering faith.
