Early Life and Artistic Lineage

Peeter Volkonski, a multifaceted Estonian artist, was born into a distinguished lineage. His father, Prince Andrei Mikhailovich Volkonsky, was a great-great-grandson of the Decembrist Sergei Grigorievich Volkonsky. His mother, Helvi Juurison, was an Estonian poetess. Volkonski also shares a distant connection to the renowned polymath Mikhail Lomonosov.

Education and Artistic Explorations

Volkonski honed his artistic skills at the Tallinn Conservatory from 1972 to 1976. Since 1976, he has flourished as a director, actor, rock musician, composer, and screenwriter. In 1978, he co-founded the rock band "Propeller" with Urmas Alender.

Musical Projects

Volkonski's musical endeavors extended beyond rock music. In 1990, he presented the musical project "Slave Owner's Party of Estonia," characterized by an improvised congress held in Tartu.

Film and Theater

Volkonski's cinematic achievements include the feature film "All My Lenins" (1997), which explored the complexities of Lenin's legacy. He also directed the 2007 melodrama "Red Pearl of Love." Additionally, Volkonski collaborated on the tango-opera "Maria from Buenos Aires" by Astor Piazzolla.

Literary Contributions

Volkonski's literary output includes "Propeller XV" (1995), a compilation of songs, and "Die Woche" (2009), a collection of poetry and reminiscences.
