Political Career
Haavisto's political journey began with the Green Party, where he held various leadership positions, including as party chairman from 1993 to 1995 and again from 2018 to 2019. Haavisto's political aspirations reached a peak when he contested in the 2012 presidential election as the Green Party's candidate. In the 2018 election, he again ran for the presidency but secured second place with 12.4% of the vote.
