Biography of Peter Dupas
Peter Norris Dupas was born in 1953 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. His family moved to Melbourne when he was a child. He was the youngest of his parents' children and his family was described as 'perfectly normal'.

Early Criminal Activities
Dupas first displayed his maniacal tendencies at the age of 15 when he attacked a woman, injuring her with a knife. When he was arrested, he honestly told the police that he didn't know why he did it and provided no explanation for his actions. He was sentenced to a year and a half in prison, underwent a psychiatric evaluation at Larundel Psychiatric Hospital, and was deemed mentally unfit.

Series of Crimes
In 1969, two elderly women's bodies were found mutilated with surgical instruments, causing shock at the Austin Hospital. Dupas was caught in 1974 and sentenced to 9 years for rape but was released after 5 years. In 1979, just a few months after his release, Dupas was involved in another rape case. His crimes continued to escalate, and in 1980, he received another 5-year sentence. However, in 1985, Dupas was released again and continued to seek out his victims.

Capture and Conviction
In 1996, Dupas moved to a suburb of Melbourne and targeted psychotherapist Nicole Amanda Patterson. He entered her home posing as a client and brutally murdered her. Dupas was sentenced to life in prison for this crime. In 2000, he was linked to another brutal murder that occurred in 1997. He was sentenced to a second life term. During his time in prison, Dupas was connected to yet another murder that took place in 1997, but the witnesses' testimonies were not considered substantial enough.
Legacy
In 2007, Dupas received his third life sentence after his cellmate, Andrew Fraser, testified against him. Fraser later entered the witness protection program. Dupas's crimes were notorious in Australia, and his modus operandi became synonymous with his name. After his release, Fraser became a writer.
In 1987, while in prison, Dupas married nurse Grace McConnell, who was 16 years older than him. They divorced in the mid-1990s.
