Early Career

Born in the Netherlands, Pim Verbeek began his football journey as a player before transitioning into coaching at the early age of 25. He initially held an assistant role at Dutch club Dordrecht before managing amateur team Unitas Gorinchem from 1984 to 1987.

Professional Management

In 1987, Verbeek took the helm at De Graafschap, a professional club, where he demonstrated promising results. His success there led to an offer from Feyenoord, where he won the Dutch Cup. Throughout the 1990s, he continued to coach several Dutch clubs.

International Experience

Verbeek ventured to Japan in 1998, managing Omiya Ardija. In 2000, he returned to the Netherlands briefly to serve as a scout for the national team before assisting Guus Hiddink as an assistant coach for the South Korean national team. Together, they led the team to the semifinals of the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

Assistant Roles and South Korea

After his stint in South Korea, Verbeek returned to Japan to coach Kyoto Sanga. In 2004, he managed the Netherlands Antilles national team. From 2005 onwards, he played an assistant role to Dick Advocaat at German club Borussia Monchengladbach and later the national teams of the United Arab Emirates and South Korea.

South Korea Head Coach

In 2006, Verbeek took over as head coach of the South Korean national team after Advocaat's departure to Zenit Saint Petersburg. However, facing criticism, he resigned in 2007.

Australia Head Coach

From 2007 to 2010, Verbeek led the Australian national team, guiding them to the final stages of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Post-World Cup Roles

After his tenure with Australia, Verbeek signed with Morocco's Football Federation in 2010 to become the technical director of their youth team.
