Under Fejk's leadership, the zoo witnessed remarkable growth. Giraffe and gorilla enclosures were constructed, and the arrival of the first baby gorilla in the Czech Republic was a major success. Visitor numbers skyrocketed, reaching 1.3 million in 2007, a threefold increase from 1997. Fejk played a pivotal role in the zoo's recovery from the devastating floods of 2002. He immortalized the heroic sacrifice of Gaston the seal with a monument in the zoo's main square. Fejk also dedicated over seven years to rehabilitating a young gorilla struggling with social interactions.
