Early Life and Football Career

Born into a family of textile workers, Pyotr Isakov began his football journey at a youth academy founded by English workers at the Morozov textile factory. He made his professional debut for Zamoskvoretsky Club Sport in 1916, where he spent six years, becoming a key player in a legendary team.

In 1923, Isakov joined Krasnaya Presnya after a one-year suspension for his desire to leave Zamoskvoretsky Club Sport. Alongside skilled players like Nikolai Starostin and Valentin Prokofyev, he formed an exceptional attacking lineup for Presnya and later for Pishcheviki.

The "Professor" of Football

Isakov's exceptional skill and tactical intelligence earned him the nickname "The Professor." Pioneering a role as a deep-lying center forward, he orchestrated attacks, supplying teammates with precision passes. This innovative approach transformed the game, paving the way for the emergence of the modern-day playmaker.

International Recognition and Legacy

Isakov played two official matches for the Soviet Union national team and three unofficial matches for the Russian SFSR national team, scoring two goals in the latter. His extraordinary talent was recognized in 1934 when he was awarded the prestigious title of "Merited Master of Sports," one of the first nine footballers to receive the honor.

Coaching Career and Later Life

Post-retirement, Isakov dedicated himself to coaching and mentoring young players, sharing his knowledge and experience even before the concept of "coach" became widespread. He served as assistant coach at Spartak and later headed its reserve team for over two decades.
