Birth and Early Life

Born on September 26, 1965, in Bolgrad, Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko is the son of Alexei Ivanovich and Evgenia Sergeevna. From an early age, his determination and ambition were apparent, despite growing in the shadow of his older brother, Mikhail.

Education and Military Service

Poroshenko pursued his undergraduate studies in international economics at Kyiv University. He was drafted into the Soviet Army in 1984 but managed to secure a leave for his marriage to Marina Perevedentseva. Upon completing his military service, he returned to university and earned a Ph.D. in economic sciences in 2002.

Business Success

In the late 1980s, Poroshenko ventured into entrepreneurship. His business ventures flourished, and he soon established himself as a successful businessman. Together with his father and brother, he founded the "Ukrprominvest" group. After his brother's untimely death in 1997, Poroshenko expanded his business portfolio and became a key figure in Ukraine's confectionery industry.

Political Career

Poroshenko's political career began in 1998 when he was elected to the Verkhovna Rada. He played a significant role in the 2004 "Orange Revolution" that brought Viktor Yushchenko to power. He served as Chairman of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine from 2005 to 2007. Under President Viktor Yanukovych, Poroshenko held the position of Minister of Economics.

Presidency

In 2014, following Yanukovych's ouster, Poroshenko was elected President of Ukraine. He remained in office until 2019. During his presidency, he faced significant challenges, including the Russian annexation of Crimea and the conflict in eastern Ukraine. Post-Presidency

After leaving office, Poroshenko continued to be actively involved in politics. He established the "European Solidarity" party and remains a prominent figure in Ukrainian society. He has expressed his support for Ukraine's European integration and has criticized Russian aggression.

Personal Life

Poroshenko is married to Marina Perevedentseva, and they have four children: Oleksiy, Mykhailo, Eugenia, and Oleksandra. He is a keen supporter of the arts and culture and has established several charitable foundations.
