Early Life and Education

Petr Petrovich Rogonov was born on October 6, 1942. He graduated with a degree in physics and mathematics from the Novozybkovsky Pedagogical Institute. He went on to earn a PhD in philosophy.

Academic and Political Career

Rogonov began his career as a pioneer leader, later becoming secretary of the party committee at the Bryansk Pedagogical University. Prior to 1996, he served as head of the Department of Philosophy and History at the Bryansk State Technical University, where he also became an associate professor.

On December 8, 1996, Rogonov was elected to the second convocation of the Bryansk Regional Duma. He was appointed chairman of the Duma's education committee.

Regional Government

In January 1999, Rogonov was appointed deputy head of the Bryansk Oblast administration for education, science, and culture.

Duma Career

On December 19, 1999, Rogonov was elected to the third convocation of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. In January 2000, he joined the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) faction.

From January 26, 2000, Rogonov served on the State Duma's Committee on Labor, Social Policy, and Veterans' Affairs. On March 15, 2000, the committee was renamed the Committee on Labor and Social Policy.
