Biography of Petro Slobodyan
Petro Slobodyan is a former Soviet football player, forward, and Ukrainian coach. He was born in Kolomyia and began his football career at the Avangard Ternopil team in 1970. Slobodyan then played for Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk from 1972 to 1974, Dynamo Kyiv from 1975 to 1979, and Lokomotiv Moscow in 1980. He represented the USSR national team in two matches.
Coaching Career
After retiring as a player, Slobodyan pursued a coaching career. He became the head coach of the Kiev club Obolon from 2002 to 2004 and then from 2006 to 2008.
Achievements
During his playing career, Slobodyan achieved several notable accomplishments. He won the UEFA Super Cup in 1975 and was a two-time champion of the Soviet Union in 1975 and 1977. In 1976, he was also part of the youth team that won the European Championship.
Slobodyan has received various honors and awards throughout his life. He was awarded the Order of Merit of the second and third degrees for his contributions to football in 2015 and 2020, respectively. In 2004, he was also awarded the Medal "For Labor and Victory."
