Early Life and Education

Born in France, Augustin Dumay is a renowned violinist and pianist. At the age of twelve, he graduated from the prestigious Paris Conservatory. He then furthered his studies in Los Angeles under the tutelage of the legendary Jascha Heifetz.

Professional Debut and Conservatory Professorship

In 1971, Dumay made his debut with the Orchestre de Paris under the baton of Georg Solti, performing Alban Berg's Violin Concerto. From 1977 to 1986, he served as a professor at the Paris Conservatory, passing on his knowledge and expertise to aspiring musicians.

International Career and Recognition

Dumay currently resides and works in Lausanne, Switzerland. He is a professor at the Lausanne Conservatory and conducts master classes in both violin and piano alongside pianist Bruno Canino. Additionally, he has ventured into conducting, leading performances at the Lausanne Opera, including Mozart's singspiel "Der Schauspieldirektor." In 2006, he was honored with the Lausanne Prize.

Dumay's extensive discography includes violin concertos by Giuseppe Tartini, Louis Spohr, Felix Mendelssohn, Max Bruch, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Camille Saint-Saëns, Ernest Chausson, Jean Sibelius, and Henri Dutilleux. He has also recorded sonatas by César Franck, Johannes Brahms, Gabriel Fauré, Edvard Grieg, and Sergei Prokofiev.
