Literary Career

Early Works

Livigni's first tragedy, "Mario ed i Cimbri," written in Florence in 1862, was not staged. His subsequent plays, "Puschkin" and "Beethoven," as well as the tragedies "Sordello" and "Monaldeschi," received limited success.

Major Success with "Nerone"

In 1875, Livigni achieved immense acclaim with his tragedy "Nerone." Despite its loose plot structure, the play garnered widespread recognition. Other notable works include "Messalina," "Giuliano l'Apostata," "Cleopatra," "Peauto e il suo secolo," "Cola di Rienzi," "I Borgia," and "Cecilia."

Later Works and Legacy

Livi gni's later drama, "I Napolitani del 1799," met with less success. However, his collected works, "Teatro poetico," were published in 1877 in Turin. Additionally, his "Poesie liriche" was released in Milan in 1876. Livigni's works have left a significant mark on Italian literature, and his contributions to the unification movement continue to be recognized.
