Pontus Wernbloom is a Swedish footballer who plays as a midfielder for Moscow's CSKA and the Swedish national team. He started his career in the youth clubs of his hometown before joining "Göteborg" in 2004, where he played for the youth team for a year. In 2005, he was promoted to the first team after Håkan Mild retired. However, he had to fight for his place in the starting lineup during the next season as the team changed its playing style under a new coach. When forward Marcus Berg left the club, Wernbloom had to play as a central striker.

In April 2009, Pontus signed a contract with the Dutch football club AZ. The transfer fee paid by the club was €2.5 million.
