Princess Victoria Ingrid Alice Désirée, Crown Princess of Sweden and Duchess of Västergötland, was born on July 14, 1977, in Solna, Stockholm County, Sweden. She is the eldest child and heir of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.

Victoria became a Swedish princess at birth, but it was not until 1979 that she became the Crown Princess. The change in succession laws in 1979 established absolute primogeniture, meaning that the throne would pass to the eldest child regardless of their gender.
