Biography of Quentin Richardson
Early Life and EducationQuentin Richardson is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Miami Heat in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born in Chicago, Illinois to parents Lee and Emma Richardson. Standing at six feet six inches (1.98 meters) tall and weighing 228 pounds (104 kilograms), Richardson plays both as a forward and a guard.

After graduating from high school, where he led the basketball team to win the state championship in 1998, Richardson attended DePaul University. During his two seasons at DePaul, he averaged 17.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. He became the only player in the history of the university to score over a thousand points, grab over five hundred rebounds, and make over a hundred three-pointers.

Professional Career
Richardson entered the NBA in 2000 after his sophomore year at DePaul. He was selected as the 18th overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers in the draft, following his teammates Darius Miles and Keyon Dooling. Richardson played a significant role in the documentary film "The Youngest Guns" with Miles, which depicted their first three seasons in the NBA with the Clippers. After four seasons with the Clippers, Richardson signed a contract with the Phoenix Suns.
In the 2004-2005 season, Richardson set a new record for the Suns by making the most three-pointers in a season, surpassing the previous record of 199 set by Dan Majerle. He finished the season with the league's highest number of three-point attempts (631) and successful shots (226), tying with Kyle Korver for first place. Richardson also set a personal record for the team by scoring nine three-pointers in a game against the New Orleans Hornets on December 29, 2004. The Suns finished the season with the best record in the league, winning sixty-two games and losing twenty-two.
Richardson made his playoff debut with the Suns in 2005, but unfortunately, the team was defeated by the San Antonio Spurs. After some time, Richardson was traded, along with Nate Robinson, to the New York Knicks in exchange for Kurt Thomas and Dijon Thompson. His first three seasons with the Knicks were plagued by injuries, resulting in limited playing time. However, by 2008, his situation improved, and in the 2008-2009 season, Richardson only missed seven games, excluding two in which he was not selected by the coach.
On the day of the 2009 draft, Richardson was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Darko Milicic. However, he spent only three weeks with the Grizzlies before being traded again, this time to the Los Angeles Clippers, bringing him back to his first NBA team. Remarkably, he only stayed with the Clippers for three days before being traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves on June 20, 2009, in exchange for Sebastian Telfair, Mark Madsen, and Craig Smith. Richardson was traded for the fourth time that season to the Miami Heat for Mark Blount.
Personal Life
Quentin Richardson has faced numerous personal tragedies throughout his life. His mother passed away from breast cancer in 1992, his grandmother died of natural causes, and his brother Bernard was fatally shot in Chicago when he was only twenty-three years old. Another brother, Lee Jr., was killed during a robbery in 2005. Currently, Richardson has one surviving brother, Cedric, and a sister named Rochelle. He was engaged to singer Brandy Norwood for fifteen months before they broke up in September 2005.
