After retiring as a player at the age of 36, he immediately took on the role of assistant coach at his former club, Partizan, under the leadership of Nenad Bjekovic. However, when Fahrudin Jusufi replaced Bjekovic, Antic did not get along well with him and was demoted to coach the club's youth team after a serious argument.
