Early Life and Education
Born in 1942, she completed her undergraduate studies in history at Azerbaijan State University from 1958 to 1964. From 1967 to 1970, she pursued her graduate studies at the Institute of Philosophy and Law of the Azerbaijan SSR Academy of Sciences.
Academic Career
In 1971, she successfully defended her doctoral thesis and joined the institute as a research fellow. In 1989, she obtained her doctoral degree from Moscow. In 2002, she became the head of the Department of Sociology at the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (NANA).
Her research primarily focuses on sociological issues in contemporary society. She has presented at numerous national, regional, and international conferences on this topic. Notably, from 1999 to 2005, she actively participated in CIS regional conferences exploring solutions to regional conflicts.
Publications and Contributions
She has authored seven monographs and over 150 scientific articles published in Azerbaijan, the United States, Germany, Russia, and Iran. She plays a crucial role in training scientific personnel in Azerbaijan.
Political Engagement
In 1995, she played a part in drafting the new Constitution of Azerbaijan as a member of the Constitutional Commission. In 1998, she addressed the 42nd UN General Assembly as an expert on conflicts and the plight of women.
Activism and Recognition
She is a member of the "1325 Coalition" on gender issues and peacekeeping, founded by UNIFEM pursuant to UN Security Council Resolution 1325.
Her notable honors include the Certificate of Honor from the Presidium of NANA in 2003 for her contributions to training young scientific personnel and the title of "Honored Science Worker" from the President of Azerbaijan in 2005.
