Armando Flores Quintero
Armando Flores Quintero is a Venezuelan politician who held various high-ranking positions within the Venezuelan government.
Education and Military Career
Born in 1952, Flores graduated from the Venezuelan Military Academy in 1974. He served as a Colonel in the Venezuelan Armed Forces until his retirement in 1994.
Political Appointments
Flores's political career began in 2000 when he became Chairman of the National Fund for Urban Transportation (Fontur). In 2004, he was appointed Minister of Infrastructure of Venezuela.
Major Accomplishments
Under Flores's leadership, significant infrastructure projects were completed, including:
- Construction of lines 3 and 4 of the Caracas subway system
- Establishment of subway systems in Valencia, Maracaibo, and TequesVice Presidency and Ministry of Defense
On January 6, 2008, Flores became Vice President of Venezuela, a position he held until January 26, 2010. During that time, he also served concurrently as Minister of Defense from 2009 onward.
Awards and Personal Life
Flores has received the Naval Merit Order, First Class (2008). He is married to Yubri Ortega, who served as Minister of Environmental Protection until January 2010. The couple has three children.
