The Journey

In January 2010, Rafael Fellmer, Nicola Zolin, and Benjamin Lesage embarked on a transformative journey, traveling 32,000 kilometers across the globe using over 500 different modes of transportation. Their adventure was not merely about self-discovery but also about the world around them.

The Wake-Up Call

Witnessing firsthand the suffering and poverty they encountered, Fellmer and his companions realized that they could no longer ignore the injustices they saw. They vowed to live a life of freedom and independence, while also making a difference in the world.

The Dumpster Discovery

For 10 months, the trio scavenged for food from supermarket dumpsters. Contrary to expectations, they found an abundance of perfectly edible meals. This revelation shocked them, highlighting the absurdity of food waste.

The Campaign Begins

Fellmer penned letters to the supermarkets, expressing his concerns. After receiving a positive response from Bio Company's CEO, Georg Kaiser, they met to discuss solutions. Kaiser was already aware of the issue and had been actively seeking ways to reduce food waste.

The Collaboration

With the help of Fellmer and his friends, Kaiser improved Bio Company's food evaluation and distribution system. As a result, the amount of food discarded significantly decreased.

The Fight Against Food Waste

Empowered by their success, Fellmer continued to advocate for responsible food consumption. He pointed out that over half of food produced in Europe is wasted daily, while hunger persists worldwide.

The Importance of Veganism

Fellmer believes that a vegan lifestyle is essential for addressing food waste. He argues that raising livestock for meat production is a major contributor to environmental degradation and that allocating resources towards plant-based diets is more sustainable.

The Path Forward

The journey of Fellmer and his companions serves as a powerful reminder of the urgency to combat food waste and create a more equitable and sustainable world. Their work continues, aiming to inspire individuals and organizations to make a positive impact on our planet and the people who inhabit it.
