Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Rasheeda Buckner-Frost, known simply as Rasheeda, was born on May 25, 1982, in Atlanta, Georgia. Her passion for hip-hop emerged during her childhood, where she drew inspiration from old-school artists and their storytelling prowess. At a young age, she yearned to follow in their footsteps and share her own narratives through rap music.
Da Kaperz and Solo Career Launch
In 2000, Rasheeda formed the hip-hop group Da Kaperz with two friends. Their success led to a record deal with D-Lo Entertainment, where Rasheeda honed her skills and gained valuable experience. After a year with the group, she decided to embark on a solo career.
Debut Album and Rise to Prominence
On March 27, 2001, Rasheeda released her debut album, "Dirty South," under the joint venture of D-Lo and Motown Records. Featuring collaborations with Pastor Troy and Nelly, the album gained significant buzz, with its lead single "Do It" becoming an instant hit. This established Rasheeda as a force to be reckoned with in the world of Southern hip-hop.
Experimental Sounds and Collaborations
Rasheeda continued to push boundaries with her subsequent albums. "A Ghetto Dream" (2002) showcased her energetic style and collaboration with Lil' Jon and the Eastside Boyz. In 2004, she collaborated with Petey Pablo on "Vibrate" and Nivea on "You Like It Like That."
Return to Roots and Recognition
Rasheeda paid homage to her Southern roots with her third album, "GA Peach" (2006). Featuring intimate lyrics and a slower tempo, this release showcased her growth as an artist. She reunited with Nivea on the track "Complicated" shortly after.
Breakthrough Success with "Dat Type of Gurl"
On June 19, 2007, Rasheeda dropped her fourth album, "Dat Type of Gurl." The album achieved remarkable success, largely driven by its lead single, "Got That Good (My Bubble Gum)." The track, originally from her debut album, was transformed through remixes and samples. Rasheeda also collaborated with Mims on the single "Like This" that year.
Peach Candy and New Ventures
In 2007, Rasheeda joined forces with Kandi Burruss to form the group Peach Candy. However, the group's lifespan was short-lived due to their busy schedules. Rasheeda also ventured into other pursuits, such as launching her own cosmetics line, Poiz Cosmetics, and her clothing and accessory website, I'm Bossy.
Continued Success and Legacy
Throughout the 2000s and into the following decade, Rasheeda released a string of hit albums, including "Certified Hot Chick" (2009) and "Boss Chick Music" (2012). Her music was further popularized through her appearances on reality television shows such as "Bad Girls Club: Atlanta" and "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta."

Rasheeda's marriage to Kirk Frost has brought her not only business ventures but also a family. The couple has two sons, Ky and Karter.
