Raymond Liotta, born on December 18, 1954, is an American actor best known for his role as Henry Hill in the crime drama "Goodfellas" directed by Martin Scorsese. He is a recipient of the Emmy Award and has also been nominated for a Golden Globe.

Early Life and Adoption

Ray Liotta was born in Newark, New Jersey. At the age of six months, he was adopted by a local clerk named Mary and her husband Alfred Liotta, who owned an auto parts store. Both of his adoptive parents were involved in local political races, although they were not successful. Liotta believed that his biological parents were of Scottish and Italian descent, but when he eventually met his birth mother, he discovered that she was not Italian.

Education and Early Career

In 1973, Liotta graduated from high school in New Jersey, and in 1992, he would be inducted into the school's Hall of Fame. He then attended the University of Miami, where he had the opportunity to perform at the local university theater under Jerry Herman. One of Liotta's first roles was Joe Perrini in the soap opera "Another World," in which he appeared from 1978 to 1981.
