Biography of Rebecca Kim

Rebecca Kim, born on February 28, 1985, in Redwood City, California, is a talented American swimmer specializing in synchronized swimming. She discovered her passion for synchronized swimming at the age of nine, after trying various sports including golf, gymnastics, figure skating, dance, and synchronized swimming. Her desire to become a champion in synchronized swimming was strengthened when she witnessed the American team winning a gold medal in Atlanta. This significant achievement inspired young Rebecca to believe in her own abilities.

Early Successes

Rebecca Kim has participated in numerous competitions throughout her career. In 2005, she competed in Montreal, and prior to that, she won a gold medal in intercollegiate competitions while studying at Ohio University. Not only did Ohio University provide an excellent educational foundation, but it also offered outstanding training facilities. During her time at the university, Rebecca Kim received the prestigious Most Outstanding Buckeye Swimmer Award and was recognized as one of the top athletes in Ohio.

Olympic Participation

After one year of university, Rebecca Kim temporarily paused her studies to fully focus on training with the national team. She enjoyed not only the rigorous synchronized swimming sessions but also the camaraderie with her roommates and teammates. Currently, Rebecca Kim is in Beijing participating in the 2008 Olympic Games. Following the conclusion of the Olympics, she plans to resume her studies, obtain a degree, and become an excellent specialist in her field.

Culinary Pursuits

In her free time outside of training and sports, Rebecca Kim excels in cooking, particularly in baking banana bread. Cooking has become a way for her to relax, calm her nerves, and indulge in a hobby and pastime. Her culinary skills are highly appreciated by her family, close friends, and teammates, who eagerly sample the dishes prepared by the Olympic athlete.
