Uruguayan Economist, Professor, and Sculptor
Economic and Academic CareerWashington Pedro Pascale Chiarino was an Uruguayan economist and professor. As a member of the Colorado Party, he served as President of the Central Bank of Uruguay twice: from 1985 to 1990 and from 1995 to 1996, under both presidencies of Julio María Sanguinetti.
Artistic Pursuits
Beyond his economic endeavors, Pascale was an accomplished sculptor. Inspired by renowned Uruguayan artists such as Nelson Ramos, Alfredo Testoni, and Manuel Espínola, he exhibited his works in various countries. His contributions to the art world extended to the establishment of the Figari Prize and his representation of Uruguay at the 1999 Venice Biennale. In 2015, he was appointed as Commissioner of the Uruguayan Pavilion at the prestigious art event.
