Early Life and Education
Rifat Huseynov was born on May 16, 1946, in Kirovabad, Azerbaijan SSR (now Ganja), to a family of doctors. His father was Azerbaijani, and his mother was Armenian. He graduated from the Azerbaijan State University and the Moscow State University named after Lomonosov.
Career
In 1976, after completing his studies, Huseynov began working in Novosibirsk. Over the next 30 years, he gained experience in various universities, government, and public organizations. He was a member of the regional public association "Yabloko" and headed the department of science, economics, and social programs in the office of the presidential envoy to the Siberian Federal District.
Research and Views
Huseynov's research interests lie in economic history. His doctoral dissertation explored the economic transition period of Soviet Russia, while his doctoral dissertation focused on the challenges of reforming social systems. He is the author of numerous scientific publications and has developed a distinct perspective on the development of the Russian economy and its historical trajectory.
Political Beliefs
Despite his liberal views and democratic nature, Huseynov emphasizes the central role of the state in the Russian economy and public life. He advocates for a unique path of development that incorporates elements of Eastern (Asian) culture.
Recognition
In 2004, President Vladimir Putin awarded Huseynov the title of "Honored Economist of the Russian Federation."
