Roponen made her debut in the Cross-Country World Cup in 1998. In March 2005, she claimed her first victory as part of the relay team, triumphing in Falun, Sweden. To date, she has secured three World Cup relay wins and one individual victory.

Roponen represented Finland at three Olympic Games. In Salt Lake City 2002, she finished 19th in the 15km mass start, 36th in the sprint, and 7th in the relay.
