Early Life and FamilyRobben Ford, born in 1951 in Woodlake, California, grew up in a musical family. His father, Charles Ford, was a country musician and guitarist. Ford's brothers, Mark and Patrick, also played in the family band, "The Charles Ford Blues Band." Ford initially played the saxophone but switched to guitar at age 13. He was influenced by Mike Bloomfield, John Coltrane, and Miles Davis.
Professional Career
At 18, Ford began his professional music career in his family band, which supported Charlie Musselwhite. They recorded the albums "The Charles Ford Band" and "Discovering the Blues." After the band disbanded, Ford joined "L.A. Express," a popular jazz fusion band.
Solo and Collaborative Projects
In 1978, Ford released his solo album, "The Inside Story." He also founded "Yellowjackets" around this time. Ford's guitar virtuosity earned him recognition. In 1986, he toured with Miles Davis. He released "Talk to Your Daughter" in 1988, marking his return to blues. He formed "The Blue Line" and released albums such as "Mystic Mile" and "Handful of Blues."
