Early Life and Family
Canadian actor Robbie Amell, born on April 21, 1988, in Toronto, is a descendent of Irish immigrants. His ancestry includes the founder of the Toronto Eaton Centre department store, a mayor of Waterloo, Ontario, and the lieutenant governor of Ontario. Notably, he is related to Hollywood stars Stephen Amell and Mark Pellegrino.
Despite appearing in commercials and participating in school theater during his childhood, Robbie initially aspired to become a hockey player. However, his destiny took a turn when he auditioned for a role in the sequel to the comedy "Cheaper by the Dozen" and, as he describes it, "got bitten by the bug."
Film and Television Career
Early Roles:Robbie Amell's acting career commenced with guest appearances in various television series, including "Degrassi: The Next Generation," "Murdoch Mysteries," and "Life with Derek." In the sci-fi drama "Alcatraz," he portrayed the younger version of Robert Forster's character.
Breakthrough Roles:
In the popular drama "Pretty Little Liars," Amell played the role of Cyrus Petrillo, the charismatic but dangerous brother of school leader Jason DiLaurentis (played by Brant Daugherty). He also starred in the third and fourth installments of the "Scooby-Doo" live-action film series, where he shared the screen with a talking animated dog.

In 2015, Amell portrayed a high school football star in the film adaptation of the novel "The Duff." His character helps the protagonist, played by Mae Whitman, gain self-confidence and independence.
