Biography of Robert Mueller
Robert Mueller was born on August 7, 1944, in New York. He graduated from Princeton University in 1966 with a bachelor's degree in humanities and obtained a master's degree in international studies from New York University. In 1973, he received a Juris Doctor degree after completing law school at the University of Virginia.
After his education, Mueller served in the United States Marine Corps for three years, including a year in Vietnam. He then pursued a career in private legal practice for some time.
Mueller has a wealth of experience working as a federal prosecutor. He held prominent positions in the Department of Justice during the administrations of both Republican George H.W. Bush and Democrat Bill Clinton. He supervised investigations into major financial fraud, drug trafficking, corruption, and terrorism. In the current year, he served as Acting Deputy Attorney General and later as a federal prosecutor in San Francisco.
In 2001, Robert Mueller was appointed as the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). President George W. Bush introduced him as a "reliable, courageous, and honest person." Mueller succeeded Louis Freeh, who had resigned after only a few months in office. The Director's position at the FBI is a ten-year appointment.
