At the age of fourteen, Roberto's talents were noticed by agents from the "União" club in San Juan. Two years later, at sixteen, he joined the Brazilian youth national team, showcasing his skills on an international level.

Rise to Prominence

When Roberto turned eighteen, he made a significant move to the "Palmeiras" club, where he quickly made a name for himself. His outstanding performance caught the attention of the national team selectors, and he was called up to represent Brazil in the Copa America. Despite Brazil's loss in the final to Uruguay, Roberto Carlos impressed with his skills and determination.

Following his success at the Copa America, Roberto Carlos secured a transfer to the prestigious Italian club, Inter Milan. While playing for Inter, he displayed his versatility by scoring goals from various positions on the field. However, he felt somewhat unappreciated and began contemplating his next move.

Success with Real Madrid

After much consideration, Roberto Carlos made the decision to join Real Madrid. The transfer fee amounted to approximately $5 million. In Madrid, Roberto Carlos achieved great success, winning numerous trophies such as the Intercontinental Cup, UEFA Cup, and various other prestigious national and international titles.

To this day, Roberto Carlos continues to play for Real Madrid and represents the Brazilian national team. He participated in the 1998 FIFA World Cup, which ended disappointingly for Brazil with a 0-3 loss to the tournament hosts, France, in the final. However, Brazil's redemption came in the 2002 World Cup, where they triumphed over Germany in the final, securing a 2-0 victory. Unfortunately, their journey in the 2006 World Cup was cut short in the quarterfinals by the same French team that defeated them in 1998.

Roberto Carlos remains a legendary figure in Brazilian and international football, known for his incredible speed, powerful shot, and exceptional left foot. Throughout his career, he has amassed numerous individual accolades and is recognized as one of the greatest left-backs in the history of the sport.
