Biography of Robin Askwith
Robin Askwith is an English film actor who gained attention in 1974 after his leading role in the comedy film 'Confessions of a Window Cleaner', where he brilliantly portrayed Timothy Lea, an 18-year-old boy who is not cut out for a regular job. Askwith began appearing in films in the late 1960s, playing minor roles in movies such as 'If...', 'Otley', as well as in British television series like 'Coronation Street' and 'BBC Play of the Month', among others.

Rising Stardom
Askwith's breakthrough came in 1974 with his role in 'Confessions of a Window Cleaner', a film that also had actors Richard Beckinsale, Richard O'Sullivan, and Dennis Waterman auditioning for the part of Timothy Lea. However, the film's production team had no doubts in selecting Askwith after his audition. The success of 'Confessions...' led to offers for roles in subsequent comedies such as 'Confessions of a Pop Performer' (1975), 'Confessions of a Driving Instructor' (1976), and 'Confessions from a Holiday Camp' (1977).

Popularity and Music Career
In 1977, riding on the wave of success, Askwith released his first and only single, titled 'Confessions'. The character of Timmy Lea became incredibly popular, and audiences flocked to watch the hilarious comedies about the hapless worker. Despite plans to continue making 'Confessions...' films and discussions about shooting 'Confessions of a Plumber's Mate' and 'Confessions of a Private Soldier', these movies were never made.

Stage Career
In addition to his on-screen work, Askwith also had a successful stage career. Some of his most notable farces include 'Run For Your Wife', 'The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui', and 'The Childcatcher'. Among his recent stage performances, Askwith portrayed Abanazar in 'Aladdin' at the Theatre Royal, Lincoln. Undoubtedly, the most successful phase of his creative life was his 'Confessions...' period. He chose this theme for his autobiographical book, titled 'The Confessions of Robin Askwith', which was published by Ebury Press in 1999. In the book, the actor shares stories about his early life, acting career, and successes, as well as his relationship with Linda Hayden, with whom he lived in the 1970s.

Later Works
Among Askwith's recent film appearances is the musical western 'Eldorado' (2011). Throughout his career, he has appeared in around fifty television and film productions.
