Roxolana Pidlasa: A Ukrainian Economist, Politician, and Activist

Early Life and Education

Roxolana Pidlasa is a Ukrainian economist, politician, and public figure. Born in Ukraine, she graduated from the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman (Faculty of International Economics) and the Kyiv School of Economics (specializing in Public Policy and Governance).

Professional Career

Pidlasa's professional journey began with an internship at the European Union Delegation to Ukraine in 2014. Subsequently, she worked at the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine from 2014 to 2015 and as a project manager for the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center from 2015 to 2016. From 2016 onwards, she served as an independent consultant and Head of Communications for the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. In 2017, she became an advisor to the Minister of Economic Development and Trade. In 2018, she initiated the National Internship Program for central executive bodies.

Public and Political Activities

Pidlasa has actively engaged in public affairs, participating in over 30 conferences of the European Youth Parliament in Ukraine, Kosovo, Latvia, Germany, Portugal, Serbia, Finland, and France. She served as a delegate, committee chair, and vice president.

In 2019, Pidlasa entered the political arena as a candidate for the Servant of the People Party in the parliamentary elections. Ranked 104th on the party list, she was elected to the Verkhovna Rada and became the Deputy Chair of the Committee on Economic Development.

During her tenure in Parliament, Pidlasa focused on privatization, public procurement, antimonopoly reform, and intellectual property legislation. Her законопроекты (legislative initiatives) were frequently adopted by the Parliament, with over 30 out of 77 submitted in 2020 becoming laws.

Recent Activities

In May 2022, Pidlasa addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos, calling for the unblocking of Ukrainian seaports and the resumption of agricultural exports. She also initiated the denunciation of the Free Trade Agreement with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
