Rollando: A Talented Defender with a Versatile Career
Early Life and Club CareerRollando, a Portuguese defender, began his football journey with Campomaiorense's youth team before moving to Belenenses. His professional debut came on August 28, 2004, against Maritimo, where he scored a goal in a 3-0 victory. He became a regular starter in the following seasons, spending four years with Belenenses.
In 2008, Rollando joined Porto as a free agent. He quickly established himself in the first team, replacing Pedro Emanuel. During his time with Porto, he contributed to the club's triumph in the Portuguese League and Cup. In 2011, he celebrated a Europa League victory with Porto.
Transfer to Italy and Back
Rollando attracted the attention of Italian clubs Roma and Milan in 2011 and 2012. However, he eventually moved to Napoli on loan in 2013, followed by a loan spell at Inter Milan.
International Career
Born in Cape Verde, Rollando moved to Portugal with his family at the age of 14. He acquired Portuguese citizenship in 2006 and represented the country's youth teams at the 2006 and 2007 UEFA European Under-21 Championships.
Since 2009, Rollando has been capped for the Portuguese national team.
