Biography of Rolando Lamare
Rolando Lamare was a Brazilian football player and forward. He was one of the first players in the history of "Botafogo" and became a champion of Rio de Janeiro in 1907, 1910, and 1912. From 1910 to 1914, Lamare was called up to the Brazilian national team. In addition to his performances on the football field, Lamare was also known for being one of the first football doctors in Brazil.
Early Life and Football Career
Not much is known about Lamare's early life, but he began his football career with Botafogo and quickly became a prominent player for the team. He helped lead Botafogo to victory in the Rio de Janeiro championships in 1907, 1910, and 1912. Lamare's skill as a forward and his determination on the field made him a valuable asset to the team.
Football and Medicine
In addition to his football career, Lamare pursued a medical degree. He received his medical diploma from the University of Rio de Janeiro in 1912, specializing in urology. This made Lamare one of the first football doctors in Brazil. Even while playing football, Lamare was already practicing medicine and treating his teammates' injuries.
Later Life and Legacy
After retiring as a football player and doctor for Botafogo, Lamare continued to practice medicine and became a professor in the field of urology. He dedicated himself to his profession and made significant contributions to the medical community in Brazil.
Rolando Lamare passed away on July 20, 1963, in Rio de Janeiro. He left behind his wife Elena Teixeira Soares and five children, Leo, Luisa, Lea, Lais, and Loris. Elena survived her husband by only four years and passed away on November 19, 1967.
