Biography of Roman Herzog

Roman Herzog, the President of Germany, celebrated his 65th birthday on Easter Monday. Born in the Bavarian town of Landshut, he grew up in a family where his father held a high administrative position in a tobacco factory. During the war, Roman attended a humanities gymnasium and graduated with honors.

Roman pursued higher education at the universities of Munich, West Berlin, and Speyer. At the age of 31, he became the head of the Department of Constitutional Law at the Free University of West Berlin. In 1970, Herzog joined the Christian Democratic Union and, after a decade, became the President of the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany.

Herzog has been occupying the presidential seat for almost five years. However, he did not run for a second term. He often emphasizes that his life has been easy and fortunate, with everything coming to him naturally, except for the university chair. He describes himself as a "conservative who wishes to preserve the political system of the Federal Republic of Germany."

For over forty years, Roman has been married to Christina Herzog, who is actively involved in organizing a foundation to support children suffering from endocrine disorders. The celebration of Roman Herzog's 65th birthday was kept strictly private, without any official ceremonies or events.
