Early Career at ADO Den Haag

Romeo Castelen is a Dutch footballer who currently plays as a midfielder for Western Sydney Wanderers. His professional career began with ADO Den Haag, where he made his debut in the 2000/2001 season. In his first season, he played only three matches, but he became a key player and fan favorite in the following season. Castelen's contributions helped the club earn promotion to the first division in the 2002/2003 season, which attracted the attention of top Dutch clubs.

Success at Feyenoord

In 2004, Castelen joined Feyenoord Rotterdam. He made an immediate impact in his first season, playing 30 matches and scoring 10 goals. His impressive performances earned him a call-up to the Dutch national team under Marco van Basten. In his second season, Castelen played 23 matches and scored 9 goals, but a late-season injury forced him to miss the 2006 World Cup. After two successful seasons in Rotterdam, his third season was less impressive, with Feyenoord finishing in seventh place and Castelen appearing in only 12 matches due to injuries.

German Adventure and National Team Debut

With his contract expiring in the summer of 2007, Feyenoord offered a new deal, but Castelen opted to sign a four-year agreement with German club Hamburger SV. Castelen made his national team debut on August 18, 2004, in a match against Sweden. He went on to earn 10 caps and score one goal for the Netherlands.

Tragic Loss
