Rosanne Cash is an American folk-rock singer, best known as the eldest daughter of legendary country singer Johnny Cash. She was born on May 24, 1955, in the United States.
Early Life and Influence
Rosanne was born in Memphis, Tennessee, where her father, Johnny Cash, was at the height of his popularity. Growing up, she experienced firsthand the constant touring, fanfare, and creative atmosphere surrounding her father's career. She spent most of her childhood in Los Angeles and after finishing school, she began working as a costume designer, assisting her father during his performances. As she grew older, Johnny started bringing Rosanne on stage with him, and she eventually started singing as a backup vocalist. With time, Rosanne honed her skills and began performing solo songs.
Rosanne Cash received her education at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and also attended Vanderbilt University for a period of time. In 1978, she recorded her debut demo album which led to the release of her first full-length solo album a few months later. Rosanne signed a lucrative contract with Columbia Records, providing her with a great opportunity to showcase her talent. She also collaborated with the group "The Cherry Bombs."

In the late 1980s, Rosanne Cash reduced her touring commitments and began working more in the studio. During this period, she released albums such as "Rhythm & Romance," "King's Record Shop," and "Interiors." Some of her recent notable albums include "Black Cadillac" and "Rules of Travel." In 2009, she announced the upcoming release of her album "The List," which features compositions by her father, Johnny Cash.
