Early Life and Education
Born in Azerbaijan, the prominent statesman and businessman initially pursued a degree in Industrial and Civil Engineering from Azerbaijan Institute of Civil Engineers in 1982. His military service in the Soviet Army from 1983 to 1985 led him to the prestigious V.V. Kuibyshev Moscow State University of Civil Engineering, where he graduated in 1989.
Career in the Oil Industry
Following his graduation, he began his career in the oil industry on "Neft Dashlari" (Oil Rocks). In 1990, he joined the construction department of HNGDU "28 May" as an engineer. His rapid rise within the company saw him promoted to Head of the Production and Technical Department in 1991 and then to Chief Engineer of the same department in 1994.
By 1997, he had become the head of the "Caspianmorneftgazstroy" trust. His exceptional leadership skills were recognized in 2003 when he was appointed as Director of the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery.
Leadership at SOCAR
In 2005, he was entrusted with the presidency of the Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR), a position he has held with distinction ever since. Under his stewardship, SOCAR has become a global energy giant, playing a pivotal role in the development of Azerbaijan's economy and energy security.
Other Pursuits
Beyond his responsibilities at SOCAR, he is the President of the Neftchi Baku football club. He was elected to the Azerbaijani Parliament in 2005 and has served as a deputy of the Milli Majlis.
Personal Life
