Azerbaijani military commander, Colonel

Rovshan Javadov is an Azerbaijani military commander and politician. He was born in Azerbaijan on December 15, 1950. His father, Bakhtiyar Mageram oglu Javadov, worked as a math teacher in a secondary school and later served in the prosecutor's office of the Azerbaijan SSR. His mother, Tamar Seyid Farrukh kizi Javadova (Aliyeva), was from the village of Seyidlary in the Lachin district.

Early Life and Education

Rovshan Javadov completed his education at the Azerbaijan State Medical Institute in 1973. He then worked at the Ministry of Internal Affairs hospital from 1973 to 1976. In 1980, Javadov received a second degree from the Rostov branch of the Higher School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RSFSR.

Military Career

After completing his military education in 1980, Javadov wanted to volunteer for the Afghan War. However, his request to join the Soviet forces in Afghanistan was rejected due to suspicions of his anti-communist sentiments. This did not deter Javadov from pursuing his passion for martial arts, specifically karate. Despite the official ban on karate by the Soviet authorities, Javadov organized an underground karate section in Azerbaijan in 1981.

In 1982, Rovshan Javadov became an inspector of the police in the city of Ganja. He played an active role in defending Azerbaijan's independence and organizing resistance against encroaching forces. In 1987, Javadov and his brother Mahir Javadov established the underground political party Takamul (Evolution) in Karabakh and Ganja.

During the early stages of the Karabakh conflict in 1989, Takamul formed combat groups consisting of Azerbaijani patriots and karate practitioners from Javadov's sections. Javadov also assisted in arming and training activists of the Azerbaijan Popular Front in their fight against Soviet forces. However, the Soviet troops quickly gained control over Baku and other cities, and Javadov, disillusioned with the Popular Front, planned to relocate to Ganja to continue the resistance. Before he could carry out his plan, Soviet forces occupied Ganja in mid-March.

In 1992, Javadov was appointed as the commander of the Special Police Detachment. He played a significant role in maintaining law and order during the turbulent period following Azerbaijan's independence. In 1994, he served as the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Rovshan Javadov is known for his strong opposition to unjust and authoritarian regimes. He has dedicated his life to defending the freedom and independence of Azerbaijan. Despite facing numerous challenges and setbacks, Javadov remains a true patriot and continues to inspire others with his unwavering commitment to his country.
