Ryan Kinen: An Educator Dedicated to Physical and Mental Well-being
Early Life and EducationRyan M. Kinen grew up in Ridley, Pennsylvania, where he developed a passion for athletics. He attended West Chester University, graduating in December 2007, and then moved to the Harrisburg area. Kinen also earned a graduate degree from Wilkes University and plans to pursue further education in the future.
Teaching Career
Kinen has been teaching Health and Physical Education for 16 years, with the last nine at Camp Hill Middle School. He currently teaches grades 6-8 and leads the school's archery club. Kinen believes in fostering sportsmanship, teamwork, and individual growth, while emphasizing that winning should not be the sole pursuit. He views athletics as a stress reliever and a way to build resilience, regardless of one's level of ability.
Professional Development
Kinen stresses the importance of continuous professional development, particularly for elementary school teachers who lay the foundation for future learning. He believes that ongoing training helps teachers update their knowledge, enhance their pedagogical skills, and adapt their methods to meet the evolving social and cultural needs of students.
Personal Life
Kinen met his wife Natalie, also an educator, in July 2011. They welcomed their daughter Annabelle Lee in December 2013, who is now in fourth grade. Their son Cullen Haines was born in 2017. Kinen shares that being a father is his greatest joy, and he delights in watching his children navigate life's challenges.
