Ryan Starr Biography
Early Life and American IdolRyan Starr (Tiffany Ryan Montgomery) was born on November 21, 1982, in a middle-class Christian family in Sanland, Los Angeles, California, USA. In her family lineage, the singer had French, Colombian, Irish, and Peruvian roots. She auditioned for the first season of the popular reality show "American Idol" under her birth name. According to tele-mogul and impresario Simon Cowell's memoir "I Don't Mean to be Rude," during the audition, Ryan was initially shy but "Paula Abdul saw her star potential and decided to become her mentor." Cowell further described that Ryan quickly became self-assured, changing her name to "Ryan Starr" in the next stage of the competition, dressing in flashy clothes, and insisting that rock suited her more than pop music.

American Idol Journey
In the first semi-final, instead of the usual pop hits performed by other contestants, Starr chose the song "The Frim Fram Sauce," which placed her among the top ten. The following week, she performed first on the first live concert episode of "American Idol," singing Stevie Wonder's "If You Really Love Me." Praised by the judges, Ryan finally won Cowell's favor, who stated, "This was a performance by a true star, I enjoyed it." However, when she performed "You Really Got Me" by the rock group "The Kinks," the judges criticized her performance harshly. Simon referred to this performance as simply "appalling." The next week, the judges changed their tone and praised Ryan's rendition of Donna Summer's "Last Dance," but ultimately, her race for the top came to an end. She returned to the show for the final concert, singing "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" and embarked on a 32-city tour with other finalists.

Music Career and Charitable Work
After signing a contract with RCA, Ryan refused to record an album, claiming that they wanted to make her the next Avril Lavigne. After a three-year legal battle with the record label, she gained freedom from her obligations in 2005. Her exclusive single "My Religion" was released on iTunes. The song reached the top of the Billboard Hot Digital Songs chart and made it into the Guinness World Records in 2005 as the most downloaded single in iTunes history, with an estimated 360,000 copies sold worldwide. On MTV, the singer announced that she had formed a rock band named "Aces" and expressed excitement about the material they were working on.

Ryan Starr also ventured into acting, appearing in an episode of the popular American comedy "That '70s Show." She guest-starred as Sofia Renatta in the series "C.S.I. Crime Scene Investigation" and took on the lead role of Stacey in the musical TV horror "In the Circle of Darkness." In 2004, she appeared in another reality show, VH1's "The Surreal Life," and in 2008, she participated in "Gimme My Reality Show" on Fox Reality, competing for the chance to have her own reality show. However, she was eliminated after the second round. A tearful Starr confessed on camera, "Sometimes, I regret coming on 'American Idol' because sometimes I think maybe that's why I don't have a record deal..." Like all stars, Ryan is involved in charity work, stating that it has become a significant part of her life. She continuously works with underprivileged children and helps with cleaning up Los Angeles.
