Early Life and Education

Saidxodjayev Saidakil Saidkhojayevich was born on May 7, 1894, in Tashkent, Uzbek SSR, to Saidkhan Said-Khojayev, a worker at a cigarette factory. After his father's death in 1901, he became the responsibility of his elder brother, a civil servant.

Saidxodjayev attended the Russian-Native School in Tashkent until 1908. He began working in 1909 as an assistant to a merchant in Andijan and later moved to Moscow, where he became an assistant cashier at a silk mill. While working, he attended evening classes at the O. V. Yezarovsky Accounting Courses, receiving a certificate in 1914.

Career in the Soviet Union

In 1916, Saidxodjayev passed the secondary school graduation exams externally in Moscow and enrolled in the Lazarev Institute of Oriental Languages. He transferred to the Moscow Commercial Institute in 1917, which was later renamed the Plekhanov Institute of National Economy. By this time, he spoke Uzbek, Russian, and French.

After the October Revolution in 1917, Saidxodjayev worked at various Soviet organizations in Moscow, including the Central Bureau of Communist Organizations of the Peoples of the East and the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks).

In 1921, he resumed his studies at the Plekhanov Institute of National Economy, specializing in electrical engineering. He graduated in 1924 and earned a diploma as an electrical engineer specializing in hydroelectric power plants in 1926.

From 1924 to 1925, Saidxodjayev worked as a trainee at the Boz-Su construction site in Tashkent. With a scholarship from the Boz-Su project, he completed his education in Moscow.

Career in Uzbekistan

After graduating, Saidxodjayev joined the Tramway and Hydroelectric Stations Trust ("TashGEStram") in 1927 as head of networks. In 1929, he became head of electrical operations, a position he held until 1931.

From 1931 to 1932, Saidxodjayev served as a Member of the Presidium of the Supreme Economic Council of Uzbekistan and head of the Uzenergocent. He was then appointed Deputy Chairman of the Science Committee by the Presidium of the Central Executive Committee of Uzbekistan.

Engineering Achievements

From 1933 to 1936, Saidxodjayev worked in the Glavidroenergstroi system as chief engineer. During this time, he also served as chief engineer of the Burdzhar hydroelectric project from 1933 to 1937. On May 1, 1939, he was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Central Executive Committee of Uzbekistan for his contributions to the construction of Burdzhar.

Saidxodjayev was appointed head of the Aktepe hydroelectric project in 1936 and served as its head until 1939. He joined the Communist Party in 1939 and became head of the construction of the Aktepe hydroelectric project until 1940.

Academic Career

After the Aktepe hydroelectric plant was commissioned, Saidxodjayev was transferred to research work at the Uzbek branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1940. He served as deputy director and then director of the Water Management Institute until its reorganization into the Uzbek Academy of Sciences in 1943.

From 1942 to 1944, Saidxodjayev was Director of the Energy Institute of the Uzbek Academy of Sciences. He earned a doctorate in technical sciences in 1943.

Later Life and Legacy

From 1944 to 1945, Saidxodjayev worked as a senior researcher and head of the hydroenergy sector at the Uzbek Academy of Sciences. He was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Supreme Council of the Uzbek SSR in 1945 for his contributions to science and training.

Saidxodjayev passed away on December 10, 1968. In 1964, he had received the title of Honored Builder of the Uzbek SSR. His work continues to influence the field of hydroelectric engineering in Uzbekistan and beyond.
