Biography of Salih Adashev
Early Life and EducationSalih Adashev was born on March 2, 1923, in Tuda, Naрын district, Namangan region, into a peasant family. He was of Uzbek ethnicity and joined the Communist Party in 1946. After graduating from pedagogical college in Andijan in 1941, he became a primary school teacher.
Military Service
Adashev was drafted into the Soviet Army in 1942 and served on the front lines from the same year. As a senior sergeant and squad commander in the 459th Rifle Regiment of the 42nd Rifle Division of the 49th Army, 2nd Belorussian Front, he distinguished himself in combat.
Heroic Deeds
On June 23, 1944, during the breakthrough of the enemy's defenses, Adashev's squad launched an assault, eliminating 20 German soldiers. They then crossed the Basa River near the village of Chernevka, engaging in a fierce battle while surrounded by enemy forces. However, they managed to fight their way through and join up with advancing units.
Award of Hero of the Soviet Union
For his exceptional bravery, Adashev was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on March 24, 1945. He was presented with the Gold Star Medal and the Order of Lenin.
Post-War Life
After the war, Adashev resided and worked in Namangan. He actively shared his war experiences with younger generations and contributed to the preservation of historical memory.
