Biography of Samvel Farmanyan

Samvel Farmanyan is an Armenian politician and the current press secretary of the President of Armenia. He has held this position since May 21, 2008.

Education and Early Career

Born in 1985, Farmanyan graduated from the Academic Gymnasium of Gyumri with a gold medal in 1995. He then went on to study at the Historical Faculty of Yerevan State University from 1995 to 1999. Farmanyan completed his master's degree at the same university from 1999 to 2001, specializing in history.

During his time at Yerevan State University, Farmanyan served as the chairman of the Student Council and the Student Scientific Community of the Historical Faculty from 1998 to 2001.

International Studies and Work Experience

In 2001, Farmanyan pursued further studies in Sweden at Lund University's Center for East and Southeast Asian Studies. He successfully defended his master's thesis with distinction. From 2001 to 2004, Farmanyan continued his academic career as a doctoral student in the Department of Ethnography at Yerevan State University.

From 2003 to 2005, Farmanyan worked at the Armenian branch of the Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation, where he was responsible for the "Civil Society" and "Mass Media" programs. Subsequently, from 2005 to 2006, he served as an advisor to the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament on foreign policy matters.

Political Involvement

Farmanyan's involvement in politics extended beyond Armenia. In 2006, he was elected as the chairman of the Association of Armenian Graduates of Scientific and Educational Institutions in Sweden. Continuing his political career, from 2007 to 2008, Farmanyan was elected as the Secretary-General of the United Liberal National Party of Armenia.

Press Secretary of the President of Armenia

Since May 2008, Samvel Farmanyan has occupied the position of press secretary of the President of Armenia. In this role, he is responsible for managing the president's public relations and communication with the media. Farmanyan's extensive educational background and political experience have made him a valuable asset in this position.
